Absolute Beginner Training
December 12th, 2006
If you are a “beginner” on the Internet or with Internet marketing, please read this post carefully.
Just this morning I was on the phone with one of my affiliate managers (Jared Jensen). Every Monday night he holds a free training session for all of my affiliates.
These sessions have been going quite well as he teaches different methods of selling more products, however, one thing kept coming up over and over again - some people need even more basic training to succeed at all in this business.
The problem isn’t that the systems and formulas don’t work (I know they work because I use them myself). The problem is that a large portion of beginner marketers don’t even know why they need to use an auto-responder or how to even start going about doing it.
A lot of people have no idea how to FTP (or even what it means), how to get a website built, what web hosting really is and how to choose a good web host, and the list goes on.
Without these fundamentals (which nobody out there really even wants to touch), starting an Internet business is impossible. I could show you a guaranteed million dollar formula that will build your business in 5 days or less, but if you don’t know how to use an auto-responder it is useless to you.
With this thought in mind Jared and I came up with a really good idea - we would provide this training!
I’m not just talking about an e-book that shows you some neat stuff, I’m talking about full-blown training that includes teleseminars, conferences, transcripts, and of course, videos.
These would be made available at an extremely low cost (a lot of it even free) so that each module is very accessible to any budget. In fact, we want the price to be so low that it is impossible for somebody to not be able to afford it (unless you have absolutely no money at all, in which case you probably shouldn’t look at starting a business at this time).
However, as always, I want to know what you think.
More specifically, I want to get your feedback as to what you would like to learn.
I’m not talking about marketing training (such as how to get traffic, etc.), I’m talking about the real basics.
Please give me your feedback by posting a comment to this topic so that I can see exactly what you would like to learn.
Thank you!
Matthew Glanfield

Great idea! The basics would be great. Particularly, how to set up and use aweber.com autoreposnders, including videos on HOW to do it.
Mike Anderson Says:
Thank you. Like anything else, one must build from a strong foundation. Too much of our time as uplines or mentors is spent bogged down with the abc’s of internet marketing. A course which walks beginners through these details as you suggest would be invaluable.
Rens Says:
Hey Matthew,
This sounds like a really great idea! Man, you are amazing, most marketers will only advance stuff, while you have the geniality of thinking like a complete beginner and think that without knowing the stuff, the big guru’s take for granted a beginner is never able to start.
Regards,
Rens
Richard Dallibar Says:
Mornin Matthew, yes, I don’t know what I’m doin thats for sure. I’m in the learning stage and need help getting goin. I don’t know where to find clients for my products, I have ebooks some software and information that I’d like to get out to the public. I don’t have alot of money but I got some. Please open my eyes to reality to makin money on this machine, thanks Richard.
Howard Williams Says:
Matthew,
I wish I could explain to you how desperately this training is needed. I have ran into so many people who are flat out scared of autoresponders because it just seems so difficult and then the ones who learn about them pick the wrong ones for example the ones that are blacklisted and then their emails do not get through so they quit in frustration. They are not directed toward someone like Aweber or GetResponse who work with the ISP’s and require your emails to be optin(which you probably know all this).
If you can honestly get the price so low that even a broke person can pay for the training AND direct them to the correct Autoresponders your Back End sales would be huge..if not unlimited when you tie this together with the Lead Capture Page.
Clement Banner Says:
I Think that is a great idea. It was one that I thought of myself. I knew there was a need for it because that is what has limited me in my efforts thus far. I also can see where people can get frustrated and give up. I will definitely want to use as well as market the products. I think it is a sure winner.
Allan Walker Says:
That idea is great. Many of us enter this realm with little or no understanding of how to “connect” things. For instance, if I have a product I wish to offer, the flow seams to be: email ad= customer response to squeeze page= price and order page= product= thank you. Also where to insert your payment button.
Lawrence Dennis Says:
I would agree with you Matthew that a basic understanding of marketing principles and tools like web hosting and autoresponders is a must. From what I have seen and experienced online, it appears that most are only intersted in making money, but are not willing to take the time to learn how to properly use the tools of the trade. It is more of a “monkey see, monkey do” mentality and after awhile, newbies give up.

This is a great idea! Even tho’ I’m not a newbie, I am interested because I like your step-by-step systems and I sometimes have trouble fitting it all together!
Lonnie Minton Says:
Matthew,
Great idea,
I have just about finished my eCourse. In
the eCourse, I briefly talk about using
FTP to upload your website to your hosting
company. I don’t have room in my eCourse
to go into great detail.
If at that point, I had a product on all
the details of how to do it, that would be
great.
By the way is it website, web site, webpage
or web page? Or does it matter?
Thanks,
Lonnie
Mark Burrows Says:
I think the absolute beginner concept is a great idea.
I am such a beginner you only have to look at my website to see that.
I,m trying to start an online business, I believe I have a good subject, but alas I am constantly frustrated by lack of info specifically for ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS.
I think videos are a great idea with transcript to go with it.
I think the same as Jim, how to use Aweber is a great idea but also things like
Basic website consruction principles
how to give away free articles to build your list, I have got good articles to give away but have no idea of where you store them and where to send people to download them.
Promoting a niche type website.

There is no doubt that this will be most welcome. There is some material available at other websites. But a well structured course is due.
N. Sheridan Says:
There are so many deceptive ads on the internet claiming that they teach affiliate marketing to “someone who’s never even used a computer before” and it’s simply not true. I can’t tell you the number of products I’ve bought hoping that finally I’ll learn the basics of affiliate marketing (web design, posting links, etc.) so I can start my advertising campaign and the products always come up short. I end up with no better understanding of where to begin or how to begin. If you were to sell a product that truly teaches you from the beginning what to do, it would be a goldmine and you would probably see a number of newbie affiliates selling your product because they’ve used it themselves and achieved some success. Even if I was broke I would still buy it because I would have the hope that I can finally get started the right way and reclaim some of the money I’ve lost.
Howard Williams Says:
Matthew,
Second email today:
I noticed that you use Aweber so in order to get people off to a great start it would be nice if your training was Aweber specific. This would save people so much time because now they would start with the right Autoresponder.
paul macleod Says:
Matthew,
Nice idea. I have been swaggering around the internet for several months now and have learned a ton .. but not from any one source. I still have not made any huge headway and certainly no money to speak of.. A one stop instruction without all the crap would be a great idea. I agree that price is always an issue. So it would have to be good for those who are on a shoe string, I suspect that would be almost everyone. If done it should be on point and stay on point.
George Hartley Says:
Hi Mathew,
Yes it seems like a good idea. I am a newbie and as yet do not have a website and I am collating a lot of information and “tools” that I think that I may need. Untill I start to try to put it all together I”ll not know what problems I will encounter or questions that I need to ask. However your course would be a good guide and yes it would have to be of a very low cost as there are other numerous costs involved when just starting.
Jim Moore Says:
People should really learn the basics before they go for the gold. It’s like someone wanting to open up an auto repair shop and they don’t know the difference between a left-handed monkey wrench and a skyhook. (NOTE: Neither one exists - both are fictitious jokes experienced mechanics use on newbies as a practical joke!)
There are lots of videos and training available for free on the Internet - but you have to look for it.
Kudos on trying to put it all together in one place.
And newsbies … before you get discouraged and blame the “system” educate yourself and you may find the systems work fine.
And yes, there is way too much hype out there that is misleading and deceptive.
Remember, there is no EASY way to get rich. It DOES take HARD WORK, especially in the beginning.
Nothing worthwhile ever comes easy.
Billy Graham Says:
Hey Matt
Great idea to start at the Bottom rung of any ladder you intend to climb stage by stage training also using your video production skills would be a fantastic additional string to the bow. A good incentive for affiliates also when prospects can see a stage by stage growth plan for their new venture on the internet they will see the benefit immediately. THEY CAN STOP SEARCHING when they need to move to the next level. They just continue with the friendly familiar people they started with. Heck you could even call call it ” Move up with Matt”
or something similar,O.K i am sure you can come up with a better title but i tried (LoL)
Go for it Matt you could even create a Diploma Class enrollment.
Billy
James (Jim) Neill Says:
AMEN to all the posts so far, especially from A. Sheridan. It seems that getting over that first hurdle is the hardest. The money that we have already spent on the other pruducts could be very useful.
Lee Scutchings Says:
Matthew,
I would definately welcome something like that because having studied IM for nearly 4 months now I have plenty of ideas about the best ways to market to people but without paying someone, haven’t got a clue about getting sales pages etc uploaded from my computer onto the internet or what software I would need to make this happen.
Lisa Dellinger Says:
Matthew, I have a product family, I have a domain forwarded to a corporate website, but I need so much more, and I do not know where to start. Your teaching style sounds like it is exactly what I need. Please move forward with it. I need to make 2007 a banner year, or it is back to the corporate jungle for this over 60 lady.
Kevin Says:
Hi Matthew,
I would greatly benefit from training in all the fundamentals of internet marketing. If the basics are covered in logical steps I am sure I could quickly get off and running into a succesful career in internet marketing…
Derek Scott Says:
Hi Matthew
Very good idea, I am a newbie and have not yet even got a website. My situation is not that I don’t have enough information it is in fact the opposite, I am suffering from information overload.
There are that many courses out there it is very confusing knowing where to start. A step-by-step from the beginning training would be great.
Kindest Regards

well its about time! ive written to at least of dozen of you guys asking for this very thing.dont for to show how to set up a method of taking payments to(paypal and credit cards)and afford ,well doubt that but we will see.
salmah Says:
Hi Matthew!,
Yes. My site was up a year ago, without knowing what it takes to get traffic and conversions.. Then I and waited, and waited.. Only 2 sales
So I looked around and see people selling digital products and affiliate marketing. So I thought I will make another site, this time using a different hosting company which do not have a complete ecommerce set up, and I am stuck. I got a domain, but dont know FTP, how to add autoresponders, payment processors, ad tracking, list building and all those things that the gurus keeps telling us. What comes first!
When I was in quality management, we use a lot of Flowcharts to provide instructions to operators to carry out their jobs, especially the new staff. Makes learning faster. You guys use too much words which we dont even know the meaning.
Clear steps would be very much appreciated.

HI Matthew,
A GREAT idea!! Ive been online almost a year now learning and surfing, buying little necessary pieces of the puzzle, but havent been able to get it all together because exactly THIS type of info is like looking for a needle in a haystack! Tons of stuff claiming to be “newbie” programs, that just end up collecting cyber dust on my harddrive because I cant figure out how to set up the program…very frustrating. Thanks for your willingness to help us “Absolute Beginners”!
Looking forward to learning from you! Will

Hi Matthew,
Excellent idea !!
I too have websites, ebooks by the thousand etc, etc, but have yet to get started. Like others, I’m suffering from information overload.A plain and easy-to-follow guide is just what is needed so it would be good if that’s what you are offering.

Jerry.
Patricia Martins Says:
Hi Matthew,
You’ve no idea how much this is needed!! In particular, I want to add value to the products I promote. I have tons of ebooks but which would compliment some of the info products but I’m stuck . I haven’t a clue how to bundle them with my offers so my potential customers can access them, after they have made a purchase from my link. A video tutorial explaining the steps would be perfect!
Thanks

Nuta Says:
Yes to all the above. Information are need on how to really find your niche; step by step in short informative way, how and where to find a good web/domain hosting, how to choose the right domain name, where to advertised for free and where for reasonable fee. I think the only way to invest more in advertising is to give back a 50% of what you already made. This way your income should slowly grow versus you dept skyrocketing or your saving evaporating forever. Personally I like straightforward information, examples only if necessary, ‘family history’ or multimillion company examples in so called ‘details’ are not very helpful but time consuming. Beginners are far away for making huge profit so some examples are not applicable at all.
Good day

I do need training on how to impliment these ideas and formulas in a practial way. I have so much software I have pruchase rights to and I have 4 websites but I do not understand how to get them uploaded with the FTP’s and understanding how to keep intouch with your opt-ins. I seem to be working at this for hours aday and get no where. I need to learn how to focus my time on what is important understand why it is.

Paul Beach Says:

Sharon Dequer Says:
Yes, Please! I totally agree with all these other folks. One request, though: if you do videos, please make concise, to-the-point text versions available too–even just outlines with a few screen shots. It is important to be able to refer back to the info quickly, and make relevant notes on it. Thanks!
Howard Says:
That’s for me!!

Hilary Stewardson Says:
That is a marvelous idea. I wish it had come my way a year ago. I have been struggling - learning by myself. At the moment I am bogged down in redesigning my website and trying to upload it. I’ve done something wrong - it won’t upload. It is tiring, frustrating and time consuming. Many of the ebooks I’ve bought deal in generalities and few details. I have a good autoresponder and a good hosting company. Now I just need to learn how to use them to the fullest. Your teaching would be very much appreciated.
Paul Beach Says:
Hi again,
I would like to add that streaming videos are difficult to impossible to view with dialup.
I would be a great touch to offer the option of downloading them.
If that benefit was mentioned on the sales page I’m sure it would add many dialup users to your buyers list (including me)
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Mattew,
Well done on your IM career Mattew. I agree that a beginners course is needed. I have been researching the internet for 5 years and have only just put up my first site simplelistbuilding.com serving that same market. It would be such a blessing for you to do this. One note: I live remotely in the mountains. I have no choice but to use satellite connection for the computer. Videos do not hold together well, becoming fragmented within one or two minutes time. Having the exact text with screen shots would be VERY helful. I am focusing on affiliate marketing and would love to be able to promote this product as well as use it myself.
Melanee Ellis Says:
Yes, yes, yes!!! I need to figure out how to use an autoresponder more effectively! I have one set up, but I don’t think I use it effectively at all.
Leo Says:
I know there are a few smart marketers that are creating how to courses for the newbie, but I can’t wait to see what you have to offer because you create very clear instructional video’s.A how to course of putting the whole thing together without going broke and directing the newbie to proper hosting, autoreponder services that have helpful support desks that won’t just take your monthly fee and not help or direct you
I can’t wait to see what you have to offer!Thank you for your time,Leo

You’ve no idea how much this is needed!! I have several disk full of ebooks but I’m stuck . I haven’t a clue how to bundle them with my offers so my potential customers can access them, after they have made a purchase from my link. The squeeze page, how is it worked, does it need seperate hosting. Ah!hosting, how where when does it all work. How do we make or post a web site
A video tutorial explaining the steps would be perfect!

Great idea Matthew
Not to many years ago a firm not too far from here
initiated a policy where every one in there employ
from the Ceo down, learnt every aspect of every job
through sales, service, to janitorial work, and were
taught and expected to cover for who ever was ill
or gainfully employed/occupied elsewhere and was
covered for 99% of all possibilities.
Did it work…like a Rolls Royce. And although it
worked perfectly and was shown to all the big boys
as a working model, not one took it on, why, because
not one of them were entrepreneurs they were managers,
accountant, clerks…employee’s with very little or no real
training to judge anything so they observed with their ego’s.
Not with an open mind, possibility or potential.

Sherry Says:
Hi Matthew,
I am a total newbie. If you really COULD come up with a beginners course on all of this I would be forever in your debt. I agree with one other post, in that I need screen prints (that you can actually see, as some are very hard to read), and with the screen prints, I need text to give each individual step. I know it sounds silly to those that know this stuff, but I am talking about the very very basics.. for example, “right click on the word in the upper left hand corner, hold down the mouse, and drag over here”… you get the point. I too have purchase countless stuff that supposedly will help me, but after the first page I am lost! I NEVER ask for refunds, because I can not honestly say the program does not work, it is simply that I can not follow it. I can not even tell you exactly WHAT I would need training on, because I don’t know enough to know what to ask for! See what I mean. Help me please. I want to retire soon and a home based business will be my ticket to everything I desire for me and my family. Thank you in advance for anything you can do.

“Why haven’t you purchased Squeeze Page 2?” Quite frankly I see masive value, but am so far behind the learning curve… how would a newbie (at least THIS newbie) know what to do with it? i do believe Matthew is a sincere marketeer, but where does this go? i get overload from being sent from affiliate offer to affiliate offer… and no one seems willing to help us out of the hanger let alone onto the runway… hopefully Matthew will be a differnt breed.
Dennis Says:
Matt,
I’ve been begging for someone to do this for over a year. Every time I’ve asked for this kind of help I’ve been told by those friendly guru’s (after they’ve taken my money for yet another worthless product), “go online and search for some help!”
Yeah, sure thanks buddy!
Anyway, if you can keep your word and make this affordable, you’ll have thousands of people taking you up on this.
Gary Jacobs Says:
Please, Please, Please do this. The lack of this knowledge is just exactly what has been driving me crazy for the last six months. I am a couple of thousand into this by now and am so close to taking a big hammer to the computer and just giving up. You could “save me” by teaching this course. I hope you will go ahead and tie it into a really good program that will allow all of us newbies to recover what has already been spent and continue on to “Real Internet Wages” with a residual income.

Oh Thank God . . .that would be a blessing. I waited a couple of years before I even dared sign up on any ‘lists’. Decided it was the only way to even begin to learn. NEWBIE . . . Understatement!!!
When will this start?
Steve Matsukawa Says:
I think you folks would go down in internet history as true heroes. IMHO, the best way to go is to teach the basics for free, so that money will start to come in. Then gradually start charging higher prices as the incomes go up due to more knowledge being absorbed. You will absolutely have a list that will be truly hooked on your products and advice. Incidently, that was my business model, but due to lack of resources I could not bring it to fruition. The business that gets this business model going will totally rock the internet marketing world and will forever be remembered as the pioneer in captive list building. Remember, you heard it here first!

Nancy Says:
A beginners’ course would be wonderful. I certainly could use help with the mechanics of setting up a web page and autoresponder.
Hopefully the cost will be affordable.
Henry J Moes Says:
My brief story starts just a few days ago. I had already come to the realization that I needed to focus more instead of trying to do everything at once. Yes, intellectually I knew what to do but in practice nothing changed. I had become a collector of information. I knew a little about a lot of things. However, when it came to actually using all this “web Knowledge” I could not connect the dots.
I came to this very humbling realization when I listened to “FAQ Video 5″ . I was only listening with half an ear, and then it hit me like thunder bolt out of the blue! Matthew was talking directly to me. I was the “web information collector”! I was hopping from one site to another and not accomplishing anything. And now that I have signed up for for Matthew’s Squeeze Page 2, I have another confession to make. It is actually over my head. I know the terms, but I cannot connect the dots. I need advice, or detailed help at almost every step.
I will be ideal candidate for your proposed new step by step program. Jared I hope you are ready to slow down on Monday evenings to help me and others connect the dots.
Thanks for listening!

My suggestion:
Tell people how to work professional in a good and cheap way.
To make money you MUST have:
Domain -> FTP(filezilla) -> aff placeholder like www.us1998.com/242 -> autoresponder(aweber) + 20 messages -> paypal account etc - but make it in 10 simple steps like Marlons new dashboard or even simpler.
And remember in order to make a good affiliate we must have a well functioning website system with a good list. Most paople like me have often more than 2000 leads - BUT on 50 different listbuilders with 60 on each - we must learn to place all our leads on one aweber account.

Jan Harrison Says:
I agree with all this .. you are correct and the comments appended are definitely right too! I understand “autoresponder” (at least in general terms!) - but I have absolutely no idea how to set it up.
Peder Andersen Says:
There is another problem - you have to use placeholders so you do not get your link “stolen”
Is it nessasary? - I started online 2004 at Stone Evans and I have sent about 50000 visitors to my affiliate site homebizniz2001.com - But no sales at all. - In same period Stone Evans sold more than 4000 new sites so I must have missed some of “my” sales.
If we could come up with a system that could benefit both us as affiliates and you, that would be perfect. Now I use this system http://panconpro.com/yoursqueezepage that I think will function and give sales.

Matthew,
H. Lawrence Williams here again becaue I am so excited about the premise of being able to offer new people on my team down to earth basic training with an Autoresponder and Lead Capture Pages because no one has ever done this and the few people that provide you with a campaign just give you a four or five day campaigns and we know that will not work.
It took me two years to finally figure out that for the average marketer that ‘Aweber’ is the autoresponder that we all should be using. I have paid $150.00 per month for an Autoresponder and was sending to 500,000 people with no results because I did not have an ‘Opt In’ database and the Autoresponder Company I was using was blacklisted by the major isp’s. I once had a team of over 10,000 people for an MLM company and only 3 people were using an Autoresponder soo when the company went down only 3 people had a database.
If we all were able to build list and a new product was introduced by you or anyone the training you are providing would allow someone to start earning an income with the click of a button.
Thank you for listening.

Hi Matthew,
offering newbie training is a fantastic idea and will be very positively received I am sure.
Matthew I have an idea that WILL MAKE YOUR TRAINING THE TALK OF THE INTERNET, AND HAVE SOME VERY POSITIVE SIDE EFFECTS. I would like to discuss this idea with you privately. Please email me with a private address and or a private telephone number so we can explore the benefits to you and your trainees, they will be impressed
and very grateful I just know it.
Thank you,

I think this is a GREAT!!!!!!!! idea. I have looked for a program for a few months. I have a web site and a nitch market but cannot find a start point. I am tired of buying programs that I do not understand and do not work. I am looking foward to this program.

HP van Duuren Says:
That might be an interesting idea although:
First of all not everybody has to be a “Beginner” in all aspects of their Business, and Second I personally usually find the info I need even before I start to look for it. So I am not very much inclined to pay for it. Also I would be somewhat susspicious about the info. Is it going to be More than you just selling products and services from your affiliates? or would it be real objective useful information I can evaluate for myself and make practical use of? On the other hand It might be usefull to “piggybag” on (your specific) usefull experience avoiding specific mistakes and safe time and money that way. Third, I am not against your prosperity, so if you provide usefull info I will be inclined to recommend your products to others.

HP

Mathew, Jerry seemed to sum up my thoughts…having spent loads of cash (I thought I wanted to make it originally) on training, programs, seminars, finally, too much - i’ve suspended the website, lost the plot now. From the start up, with someone to push my finger? just the job!
Kim Says:
Hi
Thankyou for asking this question. For almost 5 months I have been trying to learn. I have spent about 4-5 hours a day after work learning something, as I realize my effort is required. I have collected so many reports and software incase I need them, most were free but some were not. I have barely put a dent in all that reading,it would most likely take months to go over it all.
I have webhosting, an autoresponder(Aweber), an adsense account, a blog. Several partial websites that I have done. So whats my problem? I have no pages on my hosting, nothing set up in the autoresponder expect for the monthly bill which is for me. Nothing on the blog, no adsense. I am a visual/doer learner. If someone shows me and then gives me the chance to do that step before they move on to the next one, it would really help.
Also what it looks like if you have done it right or wrong. Like ftp to your hosting, if you manage to make it that far what does it look like in the folders and where do they go. How do you know if you messed the whole thing up? And how do you fix it if you do?
Are there certain things that need to be done to your pages before the ftp happens like: Do you place your autoresponder codes on your pages before you ftp them or after or does it matter? If it doesn’t matter which is easier, best?
It would seem that I am not the only needing help connecting the dots. My mouse is ready and I am determined.
Blessings
Kim

This is a great idea. There are so many programs available, but they do not give you the basic information you need to get started on line.
The programs availble gives you most of the information, but they do not provide all the information you need.

Tom Says:
Yes, Matt, you are right. Some basics training is very neccessary. As to auto responder, I suggest a unlimited auto response service, it also comes with unlimited ad trackers, banners, etc. Very good. If any body is interested, please contact me. I will pay you in it.

What’s up,
I answered an add for a home-based business about three months ago…now, I get mail from every guru on the internet. Although, I know it isn’t them personally. (I’m not that vain)
Anywho, will someone PLEASE GET REAL. If I bought all the wonderful, have to have, buy now before the price goes up, CRAP that I am being offered, I would go broke.
The only thing that I have learned is that I am not from a HERD of animals. HaHa.
It would be nice, if someone that know what they were doing actually shared.
We’ll see.
Thanx.
So, I don’t buy at all.
Elizabeth Says:
Lord knows, this is needed in my case. I have some training videos on CPanels but none of them explain exactly what the folders are for that show up when I try to FTP that are already on the site. If I build a website and then upload where do I place it in the folder heirarchy and if I want to add a autorsponder program on the site where would I put those folders so they don’t interfere with my web site? How do you modify those ready made sites so they have your desired look and feel, like the Motivated Marketing System files?
Baylan Says:
Matthew,
I SO need this right now. I have a website that only describes one part of my overall business. I’m starting a new internet-based business and need to move the existing website info to a secondary tier (my way of thinking, but have no idea what that means in computer-speak).
I’ve listened to, bought, and tried to use products that will help me set up a whole system. I understand the concepts, and want to get it going, but don’t want to pay thousands of dollars for someone else to set up something that I can’t touch and do myself.
First, I want to create my list, but I get stuck at the squeeze page. Am I supposed to Save at each step? How do I preview what I’ve done? Where is the Thank You page I thought I created?
When I get some “code” from someone else to drop into my website — what is that, how to do it, where best to put it, etc., etc. Geez.
Your class sounds like it could have the same effect that Apple computers had on the computer industry.
And as for the students, it reminds me of when my father got his first PC. He was a computer programmer at a big airline, so he was used to Cobol and all that. He wanted to understand how Lotus was programmed. I said, “Dad, it doesn’t matter. You are an END user. Just push this button and it will do this for you. You don’t have to understand how it works — you just have to understand the simple steps to make it do what it’s supposed to do and give you what you want.”
So your class sounds like it will make the computer world understandable to non-programmers. HURRAY!!!
By the way, what does FTP stand for?
I’m on board and waiting for the affiliate program!
Thanks!
Baylan
Baylan Says:
Here’s another question: Can we create our text in something like Word and just drop it into the pages? Or is there an interim step?
Videos are a great idea, but I always have questions after. Are you going to do online classes where we can ask questions and get feedback? And/or a HELP line for when we get stuck?
Seems to me that if you make this aweber-based, THEY should pay YOU for it — you’re sending them clients and making them user-friendly in a way that no one else is. The information will be usable at other sites, but if it’s aweber-specific, you’re doing them a gigantic favor — see if they’ll pay for it! You’re opening up and funneling the global community to them — are they ready for the traffic?
I’m excited to start — when will we begin?
Baylan
Lee Says:
Matt,
Glad to see someone cares about the newbies. I have purchased a number of programs that were suppose to simple. I think videos with a text file that you can download would be very helpful to everyone. It would worth the price whatever you decide it should need.

Hugh (U.K.) Says:
Sounds too good to be true, but having read most of your other stuff, you come across as a genuine guy,so provided it is presented in newbies language (words of very few syllables!) I would sign up…..if the price was not prohibitive. Lets start soon before frustration kills me off.!
Gerhard Says:
Matthew,This will surely address the problem of the 95-97% internet marketers failing we all read about. It’s just amazing that nobody else thought of it before, or were they all scared of losing out on sales? Selfishness?
Helping people with basic training, do the important things and, be on track and eventually be successful, benefit both ways, we all know that.So it should only be implemented not invented. By not doing so, millions of people then try to “reinvent” the wheel, wasting time, money, energy, etc. not to mention all the frustration.
I think everybody is sick and tired of false promises, “bribing” just to get more sales, ….
So the underlying goal or mission of this should be done in total honesty, integrity,…LIKE IT SHOULD BE WITH ANY BUSINESS OPPORTUNTY, then this could rock the IM. Why? Simple, helping 90% on the internet….the remaining 5-7% could represent the socalled “tyre kickers”.

This is a good start. I had some “”TRAINING”" that was XX,XXX.00$ SCAMs. I still trying to get out of the hole.
Ken Wright Says:
Absolute basic beginner is what I am, even though I have been trying to make money online for years I still have not started. # 1 problem is money. How can you make money when you don’t have any and can’t work to get any. I am an invalid but will work all the hours in the day to learn how to have an income online if only I can start with nothing, because nothing is what Iv’e got. Can you help me.
Charlene Elouassini Says:
I’d definately use fundamental lessons.
I’ve been trying to figure out the site building part, but I’d like for it to function like a portal. So far the only HTML tutorials I’ve gotten only tell how to link within the page or to another site.
I’m glad you’ll be doing this.
Fred Says:
I have been asking for months for this sort of support and training, the big guy’s sell to us really convincing pitches about a product that the newbie has no idea how to benefit from it, so the Guru’s carry on milking us newbies and the whole cycle of feed and discard of newbies is maintained, as without the throughput of ignorant of online marketing wannabee’s, there would be no new cash for the Guru cash vampires to latch on to and bleed regardless. I have never been offered a traffic driving or income producing package as part of the deal including training!
deandist Says:
We’ll show You A to Z how to get started for beginners. BALONEY. They’ve been out of Newbies Shoes too long. Their A-Z usually starts somewhere around G-H. Wheres the BASICS? Example:
How do you set up a Download Page?
How do you set up a Secure Download Page?
How to set up a Password Protected Download Page or should you not use Password Protected. Show the Real Basics of getting Started, Leave the Marketing How-to after getting Set-Up.

I think it is a great idea.My problem is I do not know how to do anything to upload data to a website and all that ISP this and IOC that and PHP this and AAA that and PST that. All that IM lingo, I scratch my head and think to myself, it would be alot easier if I knew all the terminology! Then I would start to grasp what what the ??? is going on. Trying to get a opt in list going and responding with the correct responses to keep your potential buyers interested in staying with you and possibly buying some products from you seems like it could be overwhelming! Some newbies”I would think” have big problems communicating with strangers. I SAY!!!! NO GUTS NO GLORY!
Thats my 2 cents

Hello I have this website on my name to promote somebody else’s product and earn commisions, but
I do not want to make many costs like using Google Adwords. Do you have an idea how I can promote his product simple with less or even no costs? I do not have a list. Thank you Hans Volmering
I have already bought a product from you but it was a little to diffficult for me.
A beginners course would fit me!

I got a website and do not know what to do to “populate” it or get it online..so basics it is. I am trying NOT to spend more money–sending more good after the bad stuff I have that promises so much, but has not helped get online!! This is now 6 Apr 2007, and I have just discovered these letters. What I need now is where to get your training? thanks Eleanor
