The 2007 Business Report

January 23rd, 2007

I have found that January is one of the best and worst times for my business.

It is the best time because I am able to take the success that I had in 2006 and easily pull in more profits because of that.

Because of the work I did in 2006 I have built a customer list, a good sized opt-in list, several products, and a stronger business.

However, there is also a bad side to this - I have to be extra careful not to get complacent.

I found this happening to me the other day, when I realized that I really didn’t know what I needed to do that day. I had already planned out my strategies for the next 12 months, and yet I didn’t know what I needed to do that one day.

That’s when I realized that I was long overdue for the report that I had started three weeks back.

Actually, it’s more like an e-book, just written in “report” style.

I have called it “The 2007 Business Report.”

You can download it here.

In this report I go over how I have built a strong affiliate marketing centered business in 2006, and how I am going to take that success and quickly grow into an even stronger business.

Actually, one of my goals is to have a million dollar business by 2008. That gives me one year to put everything in place.

Another one of my goals is to help you (my readers) to have the knowledge, tools, and resources necessary in order for you to do the same.

Perhaps a million dollar business sounds out of your reach (especially by 2008), but that’s not the point.

Our goal is not just to build a million dollar business, but to build towards a million dollar business.

My first year online (2005) resulted in close to $150,000 in revenue. In 2006 I more than doubled that (over $300,000).

This year I want to double it again.

However, this really means nothing for you and your business UNLESS I show you exactly what I am doing.

Of course, I can’t fit that all in one report, but I think that you will find this 26-page 100%-content e-book to be quite useful.

Oh, and it’s free.

Here’s the link again:

Enjoy!

    Hey Matthew,

I think you’re working too hard. I signed up for the 2007 business report (submitted my name and email address at the squeeze page) and the link in the confirmation email sent me back to this page. Your 2 download links on this page lead back to the original squeeze page. So you’ve got me in an infinite loop (hoop?) with no exit.

    Take care.

Me to Matt, i keep whizzing past Marc in both directions up here in cyberspace.

    Hey guys,

I fixed the problem. The download link was sent via email, but now I also redirect you there after you verify.

    Sorry about that!

P.S. Check your email for the download link.

  4. Brian Says:

    Hi Matthew,

Great information, very straight-forward and to the point. That’s what we’ve come to expect from you, and you didn’t disappoint.

I especially liked your profitability analysis, partly because of my accounting background, but mostly because it’s rarely (if ever) laid out for us like that anywhere else. I’d be willing to bet that 99% of internet marketers never do this type of analysis. No wonder the failure rate is so high.

Again, kudos, and I plan to start using some of your ideas ASAP.

    Best regards,

    Brian

Good report and I agree with your principles, but what happens when you start marketing to huge volumes, to the point where you are looking to attract hundreds of thousands of new customers, your cost to acquire a customer based on what you have sold previously could suddenly vary wildly and mean you start losing money acquiring customers if the next product isn’t as succesful(i realise you need to test the product first, but you will need to keep a very close eye on the ball) Also it appears you are selling products that teach others how to sell theirs, but you are advocating against others doing. Which ‘other’products are there out there for us that are to sell ‘product’. Is there a central resource(free!) you can recommend to find out about them. I’m in the UK, i think we are a bit behind you in some aspects of marketing, co-registration for example seems good but seems US orientated. Also I’m not sure if the products you sell in your country will have the same response. Are there any reseller sites offering UK orientated ‘products’ you can recommend. I have an email/personal info database of over 15000 opt in people due to be,or have recently married and a similar amount for wedding businesses in the uk. I don’t want to send them rubbish though.I have people offering to rent the whole list for a reasonable fee but i’m having second thoughts about releasing the email info after reading your report. Currently we are just promoting our own marketing/lead generation service to businesses i’d love them to embrace the whole concept of email marketing, we’re offering free trials of constant contact to encourage them, which I think is an extremely powerful tool, but it seems to be taking a while for some to come around to bothering to even set it up.(maybe the new version due out will be easier to work with!) They say ‘the money is in the list’ What route would you recommend Matthew? Best regards Peter

Matt, Enjoyed your free report. I am an admirer
of clear and concise writing. You seem to have a
knack for it. One thing I wish people would start
putting page numbers on their sheets. I dropped your report and spent half hour re-sorting the pages. I have been around a couple of years on the net. I am a partner on a dating site and do ok. Trying to get started in affiliate sites. My
observation is unless you are selling e/info products you are only going to make so/so money My opinion is that ALL THE BIG HITTERS are involved in
e/info. And that 80 to 90 percent of their income
    is derived from that area.
Unless you have 50 sites in adsense or afiliate
marketing (real mdse.) You will be just making
average money. I know there are exceptions, but
as a general rule that seems to be the case.
I would love to hear your take on this! Jack

  10. Marion Thomas Says:

I find your 2007 Business Report informative and interesting. It is specific and concise and has helped me to understand the Internet Marketing concept better. I feel more confident with your straight-forward explanations. It has been a pleasent experience to learn from you. Thankyou.

  11. Matthew Says:

Thank you for your kind comments. As per Jack’s suggestion I have added page numbers.

To answer your concern, yes, you will do best if you have your own digital products. Affiliate marketing and advertising can provide good supplementary incomes (about 40% of my income is affiliate based), but the best way to grow is with your own products.

    Matthew

  12. Stephanie Says:

Thank YOU Matthew for a good concise report.

So GOOD in fact that I want to give it away FREE from my site to as a thank YOU present to my visitors, so can YOU please give me a link that I can publish on MY site at http://LivingWithMND.org

  16. LaChelle Says:

So far so good I understand the parts that I read so far but I haven’t finished it yet but i will because it is good so far. Thanks for letting me read it

  17. Michael Done Says:

    Hi Matthew,
Great report, excellently written, and very, very informative. Clear and straightforward - a really easy read and genuineluy useful.

I’m in the start-up stages of building a serious long-term online business, and have read a lot of great stuff lately from some of the online heavy hitters. Your report is right up there with them. I’ve already learned things from it that I’m building into my emerging business plan.

And here’s another really important plus about your report - and about your whole approach to your business and your customers. YOU GIVE AWAY GENUINELY VALUABLE CONTENT, and you don’t use it to bombard me with advertising. That ad noise drives me nuts, and I unsubscribe from lists that do it. A lot of “e-gurus” say “build business by giving away good information” but they haven’t got the belief in it, or the guts, to actually do it. They can’t help themselves but to cram every second line with a “hidden” ad, or an affilliate link to something they hope to pick up an easy buck from. They don’t really trust the “give to receive” priciple. All they ever dare to give is the impression of giving.

You are really practising what you preach - you are definitley the best model of this principle I’ve seen so far. In my own business, I plan to do the same.

I know this has been a lengthy message, but your report, and your business as a whole, has the clear ring of practical wisdom and personal integrity to it. This is great, and I want to let you and othet people know that it’s worth reading your report just to see how refreshing it is to get the real thing. As it turns out, there are great business building secrets in there too. I’m sure going to be applying them.

Thanks again, Matthew. Here’s to our $100m visions (yep, that’s my target too).

    Best wishes … Michael

  18. Don Raether Says:

    Mathew
I really injoyed your report even though you have a ego trip going. I am only looking to supplement my small pention as I am 69 years old.
Question Do you actually make those empoloyees full time employees with benifits, social security and all that jaz. Wow I would just like to pay a retainer or something to have a programmer set up sites for me and a help desk.

  19. Trevor White Says:

This is just great, a true blueprint to success!
Free of charge to boot. Thanks Matt.

Being a paid member of Affiliate Marketing Formula, I was wondering if Matts’ 27 day course is the same as the 30 Day Formula?

    Thanks, Trevor

  20. Matthew Says:

Thanks for the great comments everyone.

I want to answer a couple of questions here:

    1. To Mike Blacktopp, on how to share the report:

You can grab a link to share the report here:

    http://www.affiliatemarketingformula.com/members/amic.php

If you are not a member of AMF you will need to register first (for free). You can do that at http://www.affiliatemarketingformula.com

    2. Do you actually make those empoloyees full time employees with benifits, social security and all that jaz?

Yes, I do have employees, and they will be getting benefits eventually.

However, not all of my work is done by employees. A lot of it is outsourced to other companies, so all I do is pay a fee.

    3. Being a paid member of Affiliate Marketing Formula, I was wondering if Matts’ 27 day course is the same as the 30 Day Formula?

It is not the same. The 30 Day Formula was designed to help you quickly make money in 30 days. The 27 day course will help you make money, but it focuses more on building the foundations of a solid business.

The 30 Day Formula’s techniques sacrifice a bit of building a strong foundation for speed of income, although you can then build a good business afterwards.

    Hope this helps!

Mathew: Thanks, What I’m looking for is a way to use up some monies I have in the dxione system. I have a couple of grand in it and have been unable to get it out or use it. I stopped buying digots when it stopped selling them and I lost interest in the program. I believe you sold me an Ebook or something as much as a year ago but can’t find it. Any help would be appreciated. Dick

  23. Michael Ming Says:

    G’day Matthew,
Thoroughly enjoyed your Report. I’m still trying in vain to “make it” as an Internet Marketer using most of your recommendations. There were some “new” ideas in your report, or maybe more accurately, extensions of the old ideas. I shall take action on them all in search for that “pot o’gold)”.
May we both achieve goals in 2007 and beyond.

Matt, Thanks for the imfo. I am a newbie to the internet business style but I enjoyed the helpful ideas and hope to use them thanks for your effort in putting them together. Hope you the best in your business Steve Phillips

  25. Michael Jordan-Elcock Says:

    Hello Matthew,

I downloaded “The 2007 Business Report” and found it compelling reading this weekend. I actually read it twice. I wish you tremendous success in 2007 and into the next 5 years.

I’ve learned quite a lot but was quite interested in what you had to say about split-testing, the use of e-mails and most of all Traffic Conversion. In fact, if you’ll indulge me I’d like to point to a correction you need to make to the stats you gave for John. You said (in your 4th point under John’s business) on page 23 that “The physical product up-sell converts at 10%.” yet in the nest paragraph (the last sentence on page 23) you say “An additional 20% will buy his physical product, generating an additional $1,000 (should be $997, I think). I thought that this should read 10% (unless the 10% before should be 20%. Then when you get to the “Let’s do the math:” section it gets a tad more confusing in the third line where it says “10 sales x 20% (is it 100% or 20%?) up-sell = 1 sale (2 (? shouldn’t this be 1) x $997 = $1994 (? $997)). Now if it is 10% resulting in 1 sale the revenue would be $997 and the overall position would be that the revenue earned overall was $5317 which means that a loss of $683 was realized. If point 4 should have been 20% then the number of sales should be 2 and your outcome would be accurate. I hope you’ll forgive me for picking your report apart like this but I needed clarification and thought it wise to bring this ambiguity to your attention in order that you may amend it if I am correct. I hasten to apologize if I am wrong and just didn’t follow your example. Hope you’re not saying “Michael, you shouldn’t look a gift horse in the mouth” which is what my not so long departed mother is likely to have said to me.

Thanks for all the really great information. I look forward to purchasing one or more of your products in the not too distant future.

Best regards and may you always have GOOD SUCCESS.

  26. Matthew Says:

    Hey Michael,

You are right - I had the numbers mixed up a bit. Everything was based on 20%.

I have made the corrections and uploaded the new version.

    Thanks for pointing this out!

  27. Kayceez Says:

Hey Matt! After reading your 2007 business report, I think you have got your numbers wrong!!!

Caught you there, did I not?!!! Wrong, cos with what you have done and are planning to do, and from what I have read in your report, you will not make it a million -dollar business.

Caught you again? It is definitely gonna be at least a 1.5million dollar business!!! (Double, multiplier effect with leverage… definitely more) You have got a great system going, and judging by your meticulousness, I would have to say, Matt, YOU ROCK! To your millions… with blue skies always!!!

    Kayceez, the (soon-to-be) “Online-Juggernaut”!

PS: Thanks for sharing your plan… reminded me to work on my newbie blueprint for my upcoming success - since Matt has shared how to do it, everybody now can! Cheers!

    Hello Matthew,

Thank you very much for the very informative report. I have already purchased two of your programs and have followed them to the letter. I’m beginning to see the rewards from applying your tactics to my business and it hasn’t even been one month yet. Absolutely INCREDIBLE!! Your straight forward approach and “tell it like it is” style is much appreciated by this VERY satisfied life long loyal customer and, hopefully, friend and colleague one day. I’m ready to do a JV with you, man. Let’s play ball!!

    Hi Matthew,

It all seemed to make sense but you’re talking about a lot of stuff that for us is still all hypothetical … lists of thousands, split testing, own product development …whoaaaa there !

This is the FIRST thing we’ve read of yours and we got here from your “Newbie Day 1 recommended reading” :-)

    Thanks,

  33. Richard Says:

    That was fun.
Thanx Mat, just had a quick sqiz at your report
and like the others i`m sure i will benefit from it. Glad you got the road map sorted out, was getting dizzy there for a while.
As soon as i get the past 7 weeks of BS research cleaned off my pc your material gets my full attention. One point you made there is that one does need help and i reached that realisation a few days ago.

  34. Ruth Rockey Says:

    Hi Matthew -

I assume that a person has a 30-day guarantee regardless of whether they pay by the month or pay $995 in advance for a full-year.

You mentioned that month 12 has not yet been decided on. Are the first 11 modules completed (even though you may be modifying them as we go along)? If the advanced modules are complete, if a person pays for the year in advance, can they have access to all the modules once the money-back guarantee period is over? I might well like to use one of the advanced modules before the month for it arrives.

I very much appreciate the step-by-step system you have created; but if I find that I can move along faster, I would like the system to allow me to do that.

I don’t expect you to remember my name from Big Seminar 8; but I’m glad that we had the opportunity to chat informally. That enabled me to learn how important your integrity is to you - a factor I value highly as I look at launching into your program.

‘Looking forward to your clarification - Ruth

  35. Matthew Says:

    Hey Ruth,

Yes, you have the same guarantee. However, the modules are not done yet. They will be completed as we go through the 12 months.

Of course, somebody coming in later that pays for the full amount would get access to whatever is available.

    Matthew
