Google’s New Website Optimizer
November 22nd, 2006
Here’s something interesting - Google just released a new tool (in BETA) for optimizing landing pages.
You can see it here:
http://services.google.com/websiteoptimizer/index.html
Remember all that stuff I told you about split testing? Well now you can see that Google thinks it’s important too!
However, the most interesting thing is not the tool, but the demo video that Google gives.
Why is it so interesting?
It is the first view that we have had on what Google thinks is a good landing page! You can now see what it is that Google is looking for.
And what is interesting, the landing page in their demo does not have a lot of content, which means that what we are implementing over at YourSqueezePage Version 2.0 is right on line with what Google is looking for.
Finally, I love the way they report your conversion statistics - it is based on combinations of components rather than comparison of individual components. We will definitely be implementing that model into YourSqueezePage (either Version 2.1 or Version 3.0 for sure).
Have fun!
Matthew Glanfield
P.S. What do you think about Google’s new tool? Post a comment and let us know!

No better way to find out exactly what Google wants then to hear right from them. This is a great tool and should be used.
Thanks

I am very unhappy about Google AdSense. They are very quick to close your account and not even tell you why, other then … “bad clicks”! I have noticed Google AdSense closing quite a lot of accounts just before it’s time for them to pay you. It happend to me … and they will not tell me exactly why … they will keep the $60.00 in my account as well, I was told. So if you ask me … Google AdSense is Plain NonSense.

I haven’t been split-testing landing pages so far, just experimenting with ad copy.
From a quick read, does this mean we have to have multiple copies of our landing page, with slight variations, or does Google somehow swap the variations in for us in the page section area?
